Clean Eating Challenge

Clean Eating Challenge

I think the majority of regret all of the garbage we piled into our mouths over the holidays! Therefore, to combat the Holiday bulge I have created this 5-day clean-eating challenge for you to use. I am starting the challenge the Monday after Thanksgiving, so feel free to join me!

For the clean eating phase, there are five Paleo-friendly green smoothies, salads, dinners and snacks listed under this post that were selected to help detoxify your body.  These recipes are gluten free, Paleo, peanut free, dairy free, corn free and soy free with the exception of the coconut cashew parfait. However, I added a suggested substitute for this challenge.

Along with focusing on clean eating, I encourage you to exercise for at least 30 minutes for all five of the days. It doesn’t matter if it is running, swimming, walking yoga or something else as long as you get out and move your buns :) Not sure if it helps, but one of my favorite winter cardiovascular exercises is spin class. It really kicks your butt and is fun at the same time!

For the recipes (links to approved food lists and shopping guides are provided below), I intentionally made breakfast be a smoothie. I know, I know, what about bacon? Sorry! I want you to jump start your day with loads and loads of produce! You will notice that my smoothies are higher in calories than many other detox or cleaning suggestions. However, when I have tried to make most detox smoothies I have had to choke them down. When eating healthy I want to make sure that you enjoy what you are eating or drinking or you will be less likely to continue to follow this way of eating in the future. So, I add more juice and fruit to my smoothies on purpose. I want them to be 100% delicious! Since the smoothie is the only thing you are eating in the morning be sure to drink 32 ounces (recipes makes roughly 64-72 ounces, but just cut in half if you are the only one participating).

When you get to lunch have a BIG salad or bowl of soup. You can’t go wrong shoving more veggies into your mouth!

For the snacks, you don’t need to make all of them. I just added five as a guide to some clean eating treats you can have during these five days. Each recipe makes quite a bit, so scale it back and only make a 1/4 or 1/2 if you want to try all of them.

Winner, winner chicken dinner…indulge! These recipes are fabulous! Enjoy with 1 glass of wine, you deserve it!
